"The more that you READ the MORE things you will know, the more that you LEARN the More places you'll go"
-Dr. Seuss |
I was born to teach! At age five I pretended to be the teacher in front of my cousins, friends, and teddy bears. I have always had a passion to write on a chalkboard, it was the greatest gift my parents have ever given me. For the love of learning I have my grandfather to thank, at age five he was teaching me how to hold a pencil, arithmetic, handwriting, and reading. He was such a motivation for my cousins and I, but also for many of his students. Unfortunately, I lost him too soon, but I would love to continue to follow his steps and show my love for learning just how he showed me.
My short-term goals are to graduate with my Bachelor Degree, start working as a substitute teacher in order to obtain some experience. As for my long-term goal is to become a bilingual teacher, because I know how it feels to come from a different country and not understand anything that is going on. I believe that my education at CSUDH has been unforgettable. Thanks to Liberal Studies program I have acquired the skills needed to effectively teach each and every single subject. I am more knowledgeable on the techniques needed to properly teach a math lesson, studied and learned California history in great detail from the start of the ranchos and pueblos to the beginning of the water projects. Science has become one of my favorite topics, I have learned to enjoy science through investigation and questioning. English has shown me that I am not the greatest writer, but I have great point to make. As for the visual arts and physical education they have definitely raised my interest to be creative. In art I learned to paint, draw, and create a book, in kin 425 I learned that p.e it's not just about sports but also health and motivation to be active. The fear of being around children has always been present, but by doing observations and spending time in a classroom definitely helped me in many ways. One way is by helping get the experience to obtain a job at a middle school as an AVID tutor for a pilot program, that will now become a program implemented in the entire district.
Finish the program has definitely changed me in a very positive way. I see teaching as a blessing, the experiences that I have acquired are priceless. Finishing also helped me realize that this career is the right one for me. Liberal Studies help me see that I do love teaching and every aspect of it. I love learning, sharing my knowledge, and in a classroom that is endless.
